Reason
The National Single Window turnkey contract awarded in December 2019 was terminated in October 2021 and is currently being re-tendered and a new Turnkey Vendor is expected to be on board by 3rd Quarter 2021. Based on revised estimated timelines for Single Window turnkey contract implementation, the first phase of the single window system is expected to be delivered before end of 2023.

Assistance required for implementation Training and capacity building are required for relevant border agency staff and the business community to sensitize and train them to implement and operate in a National Single Window environment.
Training is required, specifically focused on those officials who will be involved in the day to day operation and implementation of the National Single Window System in the country.
Technical assistance is also required to build the institutional capacity in relevant border agencies, in order to implement the National Single Window.
(Note: Financial assistance requested, funding approved and Agreements signed with ADB in 2019, for the development of a National Single Window in Maldives.
Funding for this project will be released in 2019).

The Government of Maldives has sought assistance from the Asian Development Bank to implement a National Single Window (NSW) Project on trade facilitation in the Maldives. The project was signed between the Government of Maldives and ADB on 18 June 2019.

Under the NSW system, all import and export documentary requirements, processes and procedures, including payments will be automated and streamlined.

A total of 7 core border agencies ICT systems will be integrated with the NSW system to be established in the country.
